Another World, Another Aesthetics considers artistic productions as practices of social transformation and world-in-the-making. Together we will start by asking “what ‘art’ is, and what can it do.” What are the practices that imagine and reimagine our relations to each other and to places? Which forms and methodologies do such artistic expressions take? To think through possible answers, we will read, study, examine and analyze scholars and artists who reshape disciplinary boundaries and produce glimpses of another world. During the semester we will focus on the respective social, economic, environmental, historic, and political relations informing the artistic productions, while identifying the methods, modes of production, and forms that the array of works take.
