How Does One Get to Own A Mountain?!

Work-in-progress film screening and discussion with Rose-Anne Gush and Philipp Sattler

24 November 2025, 18:30

Filmzentrum im Rechbauerkino, Rechbauerstraße 6, 8010 Graz

The Institute for Contemporary Art invites you to a work-in-progress presentation of the film “How Does One Get to Own A Mountain?!” produced as part of the artistic research of Rose-Anne Gush and Philipp Sattler (IZK, Graz University of Technology).

HOW DOES ONE GET TO OWN A MOUNTAIN?! explores the story of lithium in the Koralpe along the axes of property and memory. It traces the mineral’s journey from the mountain through finance and onto the stock market, as it transforms when traveling through boardrooms and company headquarters, while the region’s anamnestic and subjugated histories of struggles against fascism, dialectically, propose a counter-history of liberation ecology.

The film will be followed by a discussion in the Kinostüberl. The presentation is part of the IZK Lecture Series.

Due to seating limitations, please register via email to sattler@tugraz.at by November 24 at 17:00.
