Accompanying the course Art and the Social “The Space of Art”, this intensive exercise equips students with concepts and techniques that help them explore different positions to classical conceptions of architecture and gain insights into processes of transdisciplinary knowledge production. Drawing upon an artwork and pre-produced working materials, as well as through photo and video camera recordings, students will explore the relationships between content, institutional spaces and actors in order to capture displaced processes of contemporary art production. Coursework will include an engagement with scientists and employees of the Natural History Museum, the Neue Galerie, Universalmuseum Joanneum Graz, the Institute for Software Technology and the Institute for Computer Graphics and Vision at the Graz University of Technology.
