Elective: Relational Forms
Convened by Ena Kukić
This course investigates greenwashing as a pervasive and aestheticised form of deception in contemporary spatial practices. Under the guise of sustainability, architecture, urban development, and design often serve the agendas of capitalism and colonialism, embedding minimal environmental gestures to mask deeper systemic harm.
We will explore how environmental narratives are weaponized—whether through the planting of trees over erased villages, the privatisation of public land for ‘eco’ development, or the use of plant-covered façades to brand extractive corporate practices as “green.”
A herbarium is traditionally a collection of preserved plant specimens catalogued for systematic study. This course invites students to look beyond the surface of green claims and trace the structures they conceal. By collecting and cultivating counter-narratives, we grow a shared herbarium of resistance.
