Semmering – Land, Property, and Commons
An exhibition project in the public space of Semmering
Exhibition opening: Saturday, 24. July, 14.00
On the terrace of the former Kurhaus, now Grand Semmering.
The exhibition is open from July 25 to 17 October, 2021.
Milica Tomić, and two students from IZK, TU Graz, Anastasiia Kutsova and Abdelrahman Elbashir will take part in the group exhibition, Semmering - Land, Property and Commons, curated by Hedwig Saxenhuber. The exhibition deals with the transformation of nature, in particular, the images and perception of Semmering, critically examining how this place appears as a landscape transformed by tourism and global warming.
Participating artists include: Abdul Sharif Baruwa, Olga Chernysheva, Anna Daučíková, Zhanna Kadyrova, Elvedin Klačar, Mikhail Tolmachev, Milica Tomić, Inge Vavra, Hannes Zebedin, Anca Benera/Arnold Estefan, Taus Makhacheva, Laure Prouvost, Titre Provisoire and Anastasiia Kutsova and Abdelrahman Elbashir.
Professor Milica Tomić is Chair of the IZK- Institute of Contemporary Art in the Faculty of Architecture at TU Graz. Anastasiia Kutsova and Abdelrahman Elbashir are students of the IZK MA Studio, Flowers (Not) Worthy of Paradise, led by Professor Milica Tomić and Stasa Tomić, and Knowledge Forms: Through the Looking Glass, the Realities we Found There, led by Dr. Rose-Anne Gush. Elbashir’s installation will take place at Annenstrasse 53, the exhibiting space in Graz, in the context of the exhibition Semmering – Land, Property, and Commons.
