Media literacy has become increasingly important in today’s world. Since the start of the pandemic this importance has intensified as our lives have drastically shifted into the sphere of online media. Since this shift, we have seen that the ability to create different forms of media content and the employment of media for various purposes has become ever more important. As part of the Integral Design Studio, the Visual and Sonic practice course will focus on developing students’ media literacy by asking them to complete different exercises in photography, audio recording, video recording and storytelling through film. Particular focus will be placed on employing different mediums such as photography, audio and video to conduct research and gain knowledge. Finally, the students will develop their skills by learning to use different forms of media within the final project that they develop within the Studio.
