Nenad Romić (aka Marcell Mars). Advanced internet user.
Marcell Mars is an activist, independent scholar, and artist. His work has been instrumental in development of civil society in Croatia and beyond. Marcell is one of the founders of the Multimedia Institute - mi2 (1999) and Net.culture club MaMa in Zagreb (2000). He is a member of Creative Commons Team Croatia. He initiated GNU GPL publishing label EGOBOO.bits (2000), meetings of technical enthusiasts Skill sharing and various events and gatherings in the field of hackerism and digital cultures. Marcell participated in numerous collaborative artistic projects and actively exhibits own artwork. He regularly talks and runs workshops about hacking, free software philosophy, digital cultures, social software, semantic web etc. In 2011-2012 Marcell worked on research Ruling Class Studies at Jan Van Eyck in Maastricht, in 2013 he did fellowship at Akademie Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart. Currently, he works as a PhD researcher at the Digital Cultures Research Lab at Leuphana Universität Lüneburg.
Public Library was established in 2012 to develop sociotechnical infrastructure and invigorate (again) historical argument for universal access to knowledge. Marcell often plays as a narrator of the project. Also develops software: [let’s share books] Calibre plugin and related server infrastructure. Public Library was heard and exhibited at Museo Reina Sofía, 98weeks, Impakt Festival, Transmediale, The New School, Kunstverein Stuttgart.
Marcell was a guest lecturer at IZK in the summer semester 2016.
Visiting Professor at IZK in the winter semester 2016/17. He will be teaching the Workshop 1 together with Tomislav Medak and Femke Snelting.
